This photograph shows a number of distinguishing features between the Curlew Sandpiper (on the right) and the Stilt Sandpiper.
It's a lot easier to spot the differences such as bill, legs and body shape, when they stand side by side.
This didn't happen often as the Curlew Sandpipers were prone to chasing the Stilt Sandpiper.
